Going the Distance

Back To News >>

GerkinThe NSR team has been working up a sweat in the last month providing the communications for several corporate and charity sporting events; starting at the Gherkin building in St Mary Axe, London on 22nd May when hundreds of families, friends and colleagues came together to run, walk or crawl up the 1037 steps of the Gherkin building in aid of the New Zealand Earthquake Appeal – Step Up for Christchurch.  With a great party atmosphere, enhanced by NSR’s new NEXO speaker system, it was a great day out for everyone raising pots of money for this great cause.

With a breather in June, NSR took off running again in July with three running events in London as well as four days of the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games (30th June 1st, 2nd & 3rd July) where NSR provided a stage PA system and ten smaller independent PA systems covering individual sports all powered by their generators.

Hot on the heels of the Youth Games the NSR team moved on to Battersea for the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge (6th & 7th July) and the Boutique Run (9th July) a run exclusively for women.  Both events required a comprehensive communications set up; the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge required three (two 2-tier and one single tier) units for production, event control and security plus independent PA systems for the start and finish line and a further PA system for the post race holding area for goodie bag collection.  In addition to independent PA systems for the start and finish line of the Boutique Run, NSR also provided generated power for the event plus 25 megaphones.

Hardly taking a breath NSR joined the organisers of the Standard Charter Fun Run (14th July) within London’s infamous square mile.  NSR provided the stage system for the DJ within the assembly area, as well as PA systems for the start and finish line plus two further PA systems for the finish line holding area for goodie bag collection and the hospitality zone.

Phew – thankfully it was a successful marathon run with no injuries along the way!
